I am currently on my third year of college. I’m an advertising major, but I’ve been thinking that maybe advertising is not what I really want to do. What I’m considering is changing to a communications or telecommunications major, with a minor in theatre (my other dream is becoming an actress). After graduating, I’m considering trying to get into law school (prefereably in LA or FL) and specialize in entertainment law. Should I change my major to comm. or telecomm.?? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I know that people say that being successful in showbiz is difficult, etc etc, but I really want to try and make out a career out of it. I don’t want to end up being old and regretting not chasing my dreams, wondering “what if”? I have a positive mindset, and I’ll try my best at it. I don’t want to be a big star anyway; I’d be quite happy working in tv shows, indie films, and commercials.
The telecommunications program in my college is aimed at tv & film production, sound production, cinema history, etc. Still I think a mass comm degree would look better in a law school application. I’m still planning to do my minor in theater and take other acting classes later on.

well i’d probably go communications, the world has still got a long time until we can fully talk to other far away or have a info press conference without interference, but advertising is needed to get very high tech devices known, so that is a salary there…..

communication is probably better because it is more generalized. Also, if you want to go into entertainment, that is probably a more useful major. Many people at my university majored in comm and went on to work for hollywood, good pr firms and the music industry. Telecomm seems more restricting and it doesn’t have much to do with either acting or entertainment industry in general.
