Looking for an image editing-style application that I can use to create advertisements for my business. Something similar to Microsoft Publisher in concept, but with many more capabilities, features, and backgrounds would be appreciated.

Anyone own/heard about a program like this? My budget for this is very flexible, so cost isn’t an issue.

Most people in the industry use the Adobe suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc. QuarkXPress is also very popular. All of these programs are a lot more sophisticated than Microsoft Publisher and may take a little time getting used to.

Quark is the standard that’s used in the book industry and for lots of other applications. Corel Draw is also frequently used by Graphic Designers. It has a lot more capability than MS Publisher - which I often use for simple flyers, newsletters, etc.

But my question to you is why do you want to do all this? With the cost for the program and all the time it would take to learn it - it might be more cost effective to hire a Graphic Designer.

And even once you DO learn how to manipulate the software - it doesn’t mean that you know anything about the elements of design in terms of the best layout of your ads to get results. Good Graphic Designers have tons of training and are worth their weight in gold to a business.

As a business owner your focus (if at all possible) should be on the larger, strategic picture. This is more tactical in nature and better farmed out to someone who can save you tons of time and produce a better result.

Hope this is helpful to you.

All the best,
