Before joining a medical benefit discount program I inquired if I could continued to see my present Drs, which I was told “yes”. After paying for the program, which I was informed it was 2 payment ,one month a joining fee & the other for the month, my policy started on the day I made payment April 13th , which I was not informed. I was told I would have my cards that tues.. April 17 th . After 3 phone calls in reference to my cards & information, I rec’d them on May 15th. I was given a site for participating Drs, which the site has been down since & has not been available to this date. I called to make an appt for some yearly test & was told that the hospital never heard of this program & wont honor it. I just want my money back & to report this program so others don’t get misinformed & use it like I did. Please,What are my options. To update this I called to cancel this program & was told I had to Email my request , I got the email returned no such addy.

Horaayy..there are 2 comment(s) for me so far ;)
Sorry to hear that you got SCAMMED. Medical discount plans are a big problem and many people fall for their promises. The people that sell them don’t need an insurance license nor a health care background. They are not regulated by the state department of insurance.
Contact the Better Business Bureau in the city that the plan is located first to see if they can help you. They will contact the company for you (if they’re still in business). Search out the company on the Internet to see if there are any lawsuits against them.
Well, there isn’t a website. All you can do is complain to your local BBB and your local attorney general’s office.
What can I say. That’s what health discount plans are all about. If you paid via credit card, you should be able to contest the charges and get your money back.
Otherwise, you’ve been scammed. You’ll have to send your cancellation request via mail, certified, return receipt. Email means NOTHING.
Next time buy health INSURANCE from a local, independent agent, who has a real live office. Actually, I ALWAYS recommend buying ALL insurance from a real person, in a real office, with a real address. NEVER over the internet - you could be sending your $$ to one of those Nigerian scam places.
And remember - when it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
