I’m an operation manager for a car rental company and now my boss is saying that I have to spend HALF of my time working in marketing and advertising for the company. Is that part of my job? And he also doesn’t want to give me a budget to spend in advertising, so basically I have no money to work with, how am I supposed to only work with fliers and knocking on doors??? It got to a point where this is not enough anymore. Anyways, let me know what you think.

At every place I’ve worked (I’m a Controller), the Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operations including sales & marketing. You should be able to delegate those tasks, but they would ultimately be your responsibility.
