February 25, 2010This question is geared towards people who know a little about the major or have selected this major for themself too! I know it’s such a broad field I have chosen: AP, magazines, tv news, going with advertising slogan companies, etc. What would be the best route to choose with this major and minor? Is the minor no good towards the major? Thank you so much in advance for your help.
Sorry I mean the major actually is journalism and mass communications. It’s like a two in one major.

In that case, this is still good advice:
It really depends on what you want to do. Since you don’t really know for sure, what I would suggest, since your just starting is to get GE out of the way and take a variety of different classes. Who knows, maybe you’ll take a psych class and discover that’s what you want to do.
As you start to narrow things down and get into the second half of your college career (major classes) talk to a counselor and see what they think. Also, I’d talk to a counselor this first semester, at least once. Tell them you’re thinking about Journalism but not absolutely sure. They can help you put together a schedule full of classes that will let you experience different areas while still checking things off the GE required list.
