There are a lot of jobs in the communications field - you do need to try to specialize (how about social media marketing manager) and to stay current.
The best advice is to decide which are of marketing you’d like to work in, then tailor your education from there.
For example, someone who wants to work in marketing for a hotel corporation, may pursue and MBA in Tourism Management, etc.
