Horaayy..there are 4 comment(s) for me so far ;)
First and foremost, never hit the unsubscribe button. That just confirms that it is a valid email account.
I had the same problam and that is why I changed my email address. To terminate an account, follow this link. but you will want to create a new email address before that and start giving people your new email ID. To create a new one, just sign out and click on Sign Up and get a new email address.
Maybe i miss-understand your question but maybe you could just stop using that one and never check it again and then go make another account.
#1 Never use the unsubscribe link. It just lets them know they have a good account.
#2 Dump your old e-mail account. If it is yahoo e-mail, just stop using it. If it is another ISP, call customer service, and have them help you create a new account. Otherwise, you can always open a yahoo or gmail account, and use an email address that is not based on a dictionary word. FOr example, if your name is bill gordon, and your favorite place is duluth MN, create an account like “BGDMN3″ Using seemingly random letters and numbrs like this make it more difficult to just guess an e-mail address.
3) When signing up for new services, or asked to enter your web address to access a page, give them a fake e-mail account, or one you use just for collecting spam.
4) Create a white list. This means some e-mail services allow you to reject all e-mail, except from people you know you want to hear from. You would have to enter their e-mail address in the whitelist.
5) If you are using POP e-mail, use Thunderbird as an e-mail client. It is pretty good at recognizing spam and quarentining it.
I hope this helps!
