All degrees open door to jobs, and some of those jobs are excellent payers… in every field.

The key is you… not the degree. The degree just gets you in the door.

There is no such thing as a ‘better’ degree. The ‘better’ degree would be choosing what interests you the most. There is nothing worse than going into a degree course and hating it. There is nothing better than going into a degree course and loving it! If you are undecided prehaps try the communication degree that way you can dabble in a bit of journalism, advertising and public relaitons. I know PR is a really popular job at the moment so it is highly competitive. As with journalism and advertising. There is probably more job demand in marketing i think but anything could change. Follow your heart or just give it a go! Maybe try work experience at any of the following jobs just to see if you like it. Its common to chop and change degree courses - expensive but common!

I can’t tell you which job is best for you because it will depend on which career field you will enjoy the most and also it will depend on how much money you want to make. To me, though, it sounds like a job in Marketing would be a good fit for you. Careers in marketing involve finding out what forms of advertisement works best for a company. It will involve going out and collecting data, which would meet both of your requirements of a job involving both writing and business. You will also have to speak with clients and set goals according to their needs, so a lot of people skills will need to be used in marketing, as well.

If you’re not sure about the other fields, here is a run-down of the general purpose of each, as far as my understanding:
* Communications - public speech (TV, radio, etc.)
* Journalism - writing for newspapers, magazines, etc.
* Public Relations - making sure your company keeps a positive image
* Marketing - finding out which forms of advertising work (more research-related than Advertising)
* Advertising - creating the actual ads, like making commercials

If you have any other questions, you should definitely speak with your school’s career or academic adviser. Good luck.
