I want to advertise a bit for a hobby project of mine, but I don’t have a lot of money to spend. My target is linux (unix) power users. What should I do?

Facebook is actually a great way to reach very target audiences since you can specify your ads to only reach those who, for example, have linux somewhere in their profile. You also get to choose to pay per 1000 impressions or per click. On top of all this there’s a lot of free advertising credits you can get as a first time user if you google “facebook ad coupons” (up to $300 of free advertising). It also has a great ad interface which makes it easy to track your advertising campaigns. I know we pay about $.80 a click on facebook after optimizing our ads.

find a promotional code for google and when you sign up with a new account you can get a bit of free advertising with them. Its also a good way to experiment and get to see how to spend money on there. AdWords allows you to set different budgets and spend your desired amount per click.
Facebook advertising is pretty similarly structured but a bit simpler in the setup and running of, but… thats my opinion. Both dont require a large amount of money to set up, you can quite easily create an account for both and give them a try.

interstaterush.com has low online advertising prices
and they sometimes let you advertise for free if you
contact them and ask. It worked for me.
