For example I just got one entitled “Efeftcive phamraceutics, etc!” The wording is horribly mispelled and I never have opened one and have always clicked “SPAM’ but they just keep coming. The sender is always someone with a name like “Dorothy Davis”. I get on average three a day. What can I do to get these idiotic things stopped?

You can’t. Companies who send these out are part of organized crime. They get 1 response for every 12.5 million spams they send out, which makes it worth it to them. They program the emailer so the sender and message look a little bit different each time, and your spam filter gets faked out.
When people respond, they may send them drugs of unknown quality or fake drugs. But they may also steal their credit card number and sell it, or install malicious software on their computer. Or all of the above.
And actually, most of the computers that send them have been hijacked by trojans, and unbeknownst to the owners are part of a botnet being controlled by international organized crime. So keep not clicking those spams you get.
