Where can I get mailing or email lists for locals and a nearby college?

I need to advertise a small delivery business to the city limits of my town and for a college campus that is close.

I recommended yellow page issued from your local phone company.
You could find something.

Contact the local Chamber of Commerce. You will have to join, but that will be a good thing, as you will be able to network with the members, who can give you a lot of referrals, beside using your services. They will have available a list of members and contact info.
Go to the College office and ask if you can place fliers on the bulletin boards or in the professors offices. Also, in the Sorority and Fraternity houses, and dorms.
The local newspapers will have a business to business page you can get info from. DO NOT fax without permission, nor email without permission. I **** it when someone gets my email address. And some jerk has been trying to send a fax to my bus. phone for months from the 999-999-9999 fictitious number. Makes me crazy.
If you live in a large city, they may have a business journal you can contact for a list. Mail lists can be bought by going to the Yellow Pages and looking for bulk mailing or mailing services. Dun and Bradstreet also gathers info about companies to make them specific targets for advertising.

All these personal contacts will take time, but it is the one on one that will make you successful. People want to put a face with the phone number, so make it easy on them. Get some great cards printed up and hand out lots of them!!! It’s called networking!!!
