Why does it take so long to cancel very invasive advertising?

I am being pestered by full screen adverts that somehow don’t appear within my email . When I close the advert, guess what?? Here is another one. When I look at the small print they calmly announce that it will take 5 days plus before it stops. Does anyone know of a short cut to stop this?

When you ask them to remove it you are acknowledging to them that you are reading it. Their goal is to get you to read it.

Try adaware / spybot type program to remove it.
Start using a Firefox browser, lot less junk gets through
